Hi there! I’m Amy Prihoda, co-owner of Professional Cleaning & Restoration Systems of Connecticut. For nearly four decades, our family-owned business has helped homeowners across our state enjoy the cleanest, healthiest, and most comfortable indoor spaces possible. When a new homeowner in Naugatuck reached out to us recently with a fresh set of keys in one hand and a serious carpet dilemma in the other, we jumped right into action to get her space ready for move-in day. If you’re preparing for a move or simply want to revive your living space, giving your carpets professional attention makes all the difference.

Here’s the customer’s Story

The customer had just purchased a charming home in Naugatuck, CT. She was absolutely thrilled about starting this new chapter, but her excitement hit a speed bump the moment she walked into the empty house. The previous owners had left behind carpets that were severely worn, wrinkled, stained, and smelling far less than fresh. Before the customer could comfortably bring in her furniture and settle into her sanctuary, she needed an intense carpet revitalization treatment to clean, repair, and sanitize the floors.

What We Encountered Before starting the Job

When our crew pulled up to the property in Naugatuck, we knew right away that this wasn’t a standard surface-dust issue. Taking over a previously lived-in house always comes with a few surprises, but these floors had taken quite a beating over the years. As we walked through the rooms, the carpets looked exhausted, wavy, and dull.

The first thing that caught our eye was the extreme buckling. The carpet had loosened over time, forming large, unsightly waves across the living room and hallway. Not only did these ripples look terrible, but they also posed a major tripping hazard for the customer while moving in heavy boxes.

To make matters worse, the carpet fibers were harboring deep-seated traffic dirt, localized dark spots, and a distinctly stale odor that filled every room. It was clear that pet accidents and everyday spills had seeped deep into the backing. The customer couldn’t imagine unboxing her clothes or lying down on these floors in their current condition, and we didn’t blame her one bit!

How We Remedied the Situation

As IICRC-certified Master Textile Cleaners, we knew a quick superficial vacuuming wouldn’t cut it. We developed a tailored two-part action plan: structural restoration first, followed by an intensive deep clean and sanitization treatment.

First, we tackled the structural loose carpet issues. Our team brought in specialized mechanical power stretchers to carefully release the carpet from the edges, pull it tight across the rooms, trim away the excess material, and re-anchor it securely along the tack strips. Watching those wavy ripples smooth out was like ironing out a crumpled sheet of paper.

Next came our targeted stain removal and odor elimination process. We applied specialized, eco-friendly enzymes directly to the problem areas to break down organic spots and neutralize stubborn odor compounds at their source. Finally, we performed a thorough deep-steam extraction clean across every square inch. Our high-powered truck-mounted equipment injected hot water deep into the carpet pile to dissolve embedded grime, flushing out trapped contaminants while preserving the fibers.

The Amazing Results of Our Carpet Revitalization

The transformation was nothing short of breathtaking! As the steam cleared and the fibers dried, the entire home felt like it had taken a deep breath of fresh air.

The carpet that had once looked loose, tired, and dull now lay completely flat, taut, and smooth across every room. The dark traffic lanes and mysterious spots were completely gone, leaving behind uniform color and a lush, lifted pile.

Most importantly, that stale move-in smell was totally erased, replaced by a clean, neutral, and healthy atmosphere. The carpet didn’t just look cleaned—it looked brand new! It was incredible to see how a combination of precision stretching and professional deep care completely revived floors that seemed ready for the landfill.

And what does the customer think?

Providing that kind of total relief is why we do what we do at Professional Cleaning & Restoration Systems of Connecticut. Every home deserves a fresh start, and we were honored to play a part in the customer’s exciting new journey in Naugatuck!
